With our currency conversion feature, you’re able to purchase and send items in any currency using just one billing account in your preferred currency. Postal handles the conversion for you (using current exchange rates), making global transactions effortless. No more creating separate billing accounts for each currency.
This article will explain how currency conversion works and how to enable the feature.

How Does Currency Conversion Work?
When sending an item, Postal will check your available funds in that currency. If you do not have enough funds to cover the send we will convert your default funds on hand to cover the send.
- We use your currency selection as the source currency. So if your account primarily deals in USD please choose USD.
- We don’t split payment between currencies. So if your total cost is 10 rupees and you only have 5 rupees, we will convert your source currency to cover the entire total.
How to Enable Currency Conversion
As an Admin in Postal, you’ll want to make sure you are on the main Account team. This team is usually named after your business. Then follow this path:
Select the person icon in the top right corner of Postal > Profile & Settings > Account Settings.
In the Account Configurations section, you’ll see Enable Currency Conversion
- Select the toggle to enable (it will turn blue)
- Select your source Currency
Source Currency should be the currency you plan to primarily upload to Postal. This will ensure that you always have funds available for this feature to work seamlessly.
Sending With Currency Conversion
Now when you are sending, you’ll see that Postal is converting currency for you! Notice the Order Summary message. I didn’t have enough AUD for this send but I did have enough USD so my funds are getting converted automatically to cover this send.
We include the conversion in the Currency Conversion section to clarify what is being converted.
When reporting on sends, while we are clear that a conversion happened, we report specifically the amount of the source currency that was used for the spend as that is ultimately what was spent.
And that’s Currency Conversion. Happy Sending!
